Every digital marketing course I have taken has talked about how consistently posting content on your brand’s social media pages will, inexorably, lead to the growth of followers or at the very least, a base of interested leads. However, that sounds incredibly shady and untrue to me. Does anyone know anything about this? Can you gain followers on your own with high-quality content?
Content marketing is still relevant even now. It is a fact that consistently posting high-quality content can help grow your followers and attract leads, but it is not as simple as just posting anything.
It is better to consider quality over quantity. I will just tell you that it is more important to post valuable, engaging content than to post frequently. High-quality content that resonates with your audience can build trust and loyalty.
In addition, with the rise of AI, authentic and personalized content is becoming even more crucial. People want to connect with real stories and genuine experiences.
Finally, incorporating various types of content like videos, infographics, and podcasts can help keep your audience engaged.
Blogs are not going to disappear. Virtual and augmented reality are two examples of emerging technology that may be incorporated into content marketing to make it more dynamic and customized. The reach and efficacy of content marketing initiatives may also be increased by utilizing influencer relationships and social media.
Yes, you can organically grow your followers with high-quality content.
While posting consistently helps, other factors are crucial too:
Quality Content:
- Relevance: Align your content with your audience’s interests.
- Value: Provide useful information, tips, or entertainment.
- Visual Appeal: Use attractive images and videos.
Engagement:
- Interact: Respond to comments, messages, and mentions.
- Encourage Interaction: Ask questions, run polls, or host contests.
Consistency:
- Regular Posting: Stick to a consistent schedule without sacrificing quality.
Understanding Your Audience:
- Research: Understand your audience’s preferences and behaviors.
- Tailor Content: Create content that resonates with their interests.
Platform-Specific Strategies:
- Use Platform Features: Leverage tools like Instagram Stories, Reels, or LinkedIn articles.
- Optimize for Search: Use relevant hashtags and keywords to boost visibility.
In my previous company content used to be a responsible for a large percentage of marketing leads (I think it was 40%). They used to post article 3 times a week. All the posts were highly topical (not generic or top of funnel), SEO-optimized, and relentlessly researched. That said, it took an agency producing content, two full time writers (me included), and my boss as editor for that to happen. Many companies just don’t have the resources to do that and have to settle for either one writer (full time or freelance) or a content mill to produce bland top of funnel stuff.
There’s also the fact that all of our articles had very strict conditions. They had to have at least 5 internal links, 3 images, and a CTA in both the middle and bottom of the blog. All articles were tracked for metrics like time on page, CTR etc.
Content marketing can do amazing things if you can pour money into it, but frankly most companies aren’t able to.
Yes, content marketing is still very relevant today. It remains a strong tool for increasing brand awareness, engaging audiences, and boosting sales
