Thinking about learning how to run ads, is paying for guidance worth it?

I want to learn how to run ads for companies and freelance. Is it worth paying someone for guidance, or can I learn it all myself? I found someone offering to teach me for 7k, and they seem legit, but I’m unsure about the cost. There must be free info to get me started since I’m a complete beginner. Anyone have advice or resources to share? Thanks!

I wouldn’t recommend paying 7k. There are tons of free resources on YouTube and Google. Start with the basics first and learn what you can for free before spending that kind of money.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. If you don’t mind, could you share any good videos or channels I should check out to get started? Thanks!

7k is a lot. You can find other experts on platforms like X (Twitter). Also, check free courses on LinkedIn Learning, Udemy, or Coursera for some basics. Learning to run ads takes time, trial and error, and some money lost in the process.

@Sable
Thanks for the advice! I’ve been following the tips, and it’s really helping me so far.

7k is way too much for a beginner. Instead, take these courses:

  • Google Ads: Isaac Rudansky or Silvio Perez from AdConversion
  • LinkedIn Ads: AJ Wilcox’ podcast or Canberk from AdConversion

All of these are under 50 bucks. Once you complete these, you’ll be ready to run ads for small agencies or clients. If you’re still not confident, offer to do it for free at first to get experience. After some time, reassess whether you still need to pay for a course.

I’ll teach you for free, if you let me record our sessions for content. If you want, I can send my CV—my combined ad accounts spent about a quarter of a million this year.

That sounds awesome! Should I message you, or do you want to reach out to me?

7k is definitely too much. There are plenty of free or cheaper courses out there. Start with those, and then try to get experience by offering entry-level help to freelancers or agencies.

Do you have any people or videos you recommend?

You get what you pay for—free stuff is free for a reason.

7k is way too much. I took a course for $900, and it was really helpful. You can message me for details if you’d like help finding the right path.

I’m good for now, I just want to focus on learning the basics and taking action first.

7k to learn media buying is a scam. Take note of their methods, and stay away from people like that. For free, check out Meta Blueprint and Google Ads certifications to get started.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check those out.

7k is a huge amount for a beginner. Check out Catalyst Collective’s MBA program. It’s run by ex-Meta employees.

YouTube is the best place to learn. I learned a lot from there. If you want to pay for a course, I’d suggest Udemy, where you can find good content for under $100. Also, I’ve written a digital marketing roadmap on my website if you need help.

Try YouTube or just Google search—tons of info out there.
