I’m a bit confused about this whole “impressions” thing on Facebook. I once posted a funny meme and it got a crazy high impression count, but hardly any likes or shares. So, what does a high impression number actually tell you? Does it mean my post was super popular, or is there something else going on?
So the point is, Facebook counts a lot of nonsense as interactions.
I mean, they include a lot of stuff, including a lot of nonsense measures, as engagement.
Can you click on a photo to enlarge it? That is an engagement.
Did you watch a video for more than three seconds? Engagement.
Click on the page? Engagement.
Sneeze? Engage.
In summary, you’re receiving engagements, but they may not be what you expect.
Hello Nelly, Facebook impressions can be confusing if they don’t align with engagement metrics.
Impressions count how many times your post was viewed, regardless of interaction, including when users just scrolled past. Engagement—likes, shares, and comments—reflect active interaction. High impressions mean your post was seen by many, but not necessarily well-received. Low engagement may suggest the content didn’t resonate or was lost in the algorithm.
Tips to improve:
- Timing: Post when your audience is most active.
- Content Quality: Make content engaging and visually appealing.
- Engagement: Respond to comments and messages.
- Hashtags: Use relevant hashtags to boost visibility.
I care more about involvement than CTR. Even if the people who watch my movies don’t find it interesting enough to stay through, I’ll work on making it more interesting so that people who do watch it will find it more useful.
