People frequently share earning claims of $2000-5000 monthly from digital marketing. Some are genuine, while others use exaggerated claims to sell ‘guru courses’. To get to the real story, I’m curious: How did you make your very first dollar in this field? Did you stick with it and achieve more success over time?
No shortcuts. I got Google Ads certifications, practiced with my site, took courses through a tech school, and applied for an entry-level job at an agency doing paid ads. I’ve been in the industry since 2015.
From there, I continued to build my skills at work and create my projects independently or with like-minded friends.
You have to approach it as a career or profession, not as a quick hustle that someone online can sell you. Your favorite brands and companies spend millions per year or even per month on digital marketing—handled by experienced professionals, substantial ad budgets, and sophisticated software and tools.
You can earn a significant income through a proper position. The higher end of the income range will come with job experience. Freelancing at that level requires experience to earn a client’s trust and deliver results. Earning that much through your own e-commerce store, blog site, or YouTube channel involves risk, capital, commitment, and trial and error.
Just my opinion, though.
My journey into digital marketing started with freelance writing gigs on content platforms. I made my very first dollar by writing blog posts and articles for small businesses and individuals looking to improve their online presence. Over time, I expanded into social media management and SEO consulting, gradually building a portfolio and reputation.
Persistence and continuous learning were crucial; I invested time in understanding algorithms, optimizing campaigns, and staying updated with industry trends. As my skills and client base grew, so did my income. While the path to consistent earnings required dedication and adapting to changes in digital platforms, I eventually reached a point where I could sustainably earn a living through digital marketing efforts.
