Hey everyone, I just started freelancing as a media buyer. I have some background in marketing, but this is my first time working in the role and I’m struggling to stay updated with all the new trends and news.
For example, I’ve heard about Google Overview, but I have no idea what it’s about. I’ve tried signing up for newsletters, but they just seem more focused on selling stuff instead of providing useful information.
How do you guys stay updated? Where do you go to keep up with trends and news?
I use curated newsletters. It takes a bit of effort to find good ones, and you’ll need to swap them out when they stop being helpful. I also check social media feeds and search for hashtags to find accounts that share good content. If their website offers a newsletter, I sign up. But if they only try to sell stuff, I unsubscribe. It’s a process, but it works.
I recommend following blogs like HubSpot, Adweek, and Marketing Land. Twitter and LinkedIn are also good for real-time updates. Just follow industry leaders and hashtags related to your field. Podcasts are really helpful too since they cover trends in detail. And joining online communities helps because you can ask questions and learn from others. Good luck with your work.
I follow email newsletters that focus on specific areas of marketing. I go through them regularly. If you’re interested, DM me, and I’ll share my list of newsletters that cover different parts of digital marketing to help you stay on top of industry trends.
I rely on a mix of social media, industry blogs, and podcasts. Twitter is especially useful for following experts and getting quick updates. I also subscribe to a few newsletters, but I’m picky about which ones I stick with.
