Should Digital Marketers Learn SQL and Python ... Is It Worth It?

I’m curious, are SQL and Python valuable skills for digital marketers?

SQL is useful for data analysis. I’m thinking about getting a master’s in data analysis for UX design. Data analytics is important for making design decisions in UX. I believe it can be used similarly in digital marketing since UX and marketing are closely related.

Yes. I know both, and they help get things done faster without relying on engineering or product teams.

Do you know tools like Tableau or Power BI? I’m asking because I want to know what else I should learn. I appreciate your response.

Yes. Tableau, Power BI, Looker, and GA. I usually analyze the data myself because I like to see the whole picture to create complete campaigns.

Hope you don’t mind me asking a few more questions. Did you learn all of these at the same time? What online courses did you take?

Mostly, I learned by using them. I didn’t take any specific courses, but now I’m looking into getting certified, which might help. Certifications from Marketo, HubSpot, Looker, and GA usually do.

That’s good to hear. I will learn some Python and SQL and look into these certifications, or hopefully join a company where I can learn these skills.

I learned SQL, Python, Jinja, and Liquid language by trying to create emails using the JSON API. I didn’t want to keep asking our engineering team because they were always busy. So I learned it myself, and it became comfortable for me.

It’s definitely helpful. I think a technical background is always useful as it helps you think through problems.

SQL and Python boost data insights. They can give you an edge in digital marketing!

They’re definitely helpful, but it also depends on the types of projects you’re working on. Local small businesses might not need them, but larger companies could.

Hey, not here to promote. I’m looking for help on how to reach new clients. I have a digital marketing company and need assistance.

SQL for sure. It’ll improve your logic for analysis. Once you can find the anomaly, you can compare it and figure out why it happened. We need more thoughtful marketers.

SQL and Python are definitely valuable skills for a digital marketer, and they can significantly boost your career. Here’s why: Python’s automation can save you time by handling repetitive tasks like data extraction, report generation, and social media posting. (If you need more explanation, you can reach me.)
